The islands only Children’s hospice Rebecca House supports children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions who are not expected to reach adulthood, and their families, to deal with the emotional and physical challenges they face and to make the most of life. This care can be provided throughout the course of a child or young person’s life, they are a small team who provide respite, palliative and end of life care.
Rebecca House aims to meet the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of children, young people and their families. Care is provided by a multi-disciplinary team of specialist staff, all working closely together to ensure seamless support to the entire family including siblings and grandparents.
During Children’s Hospice week they will be sharing powerful family stories and aiming to raise awareness of their service. They are proud to be able to tell the stories of some truly incredible families, who in some cases Rebecca House has been their lifeline.
From June 17th to 23rd, they will be engaging the island's children by visiting nurseries hosting a “teddy bears picnic” themed week, accompanied by their staff and mascots, Oskar and Craig Bear. Additionally, they are hosting an open day at Rebecca House on Sunday, June 23rd, from 11.00am to 3.00pm. Everyone is invited to tour the facilities and enjoy activities in the garden, including 3-legs golf, tiny hooves pony, and homemade cakes.
You can also join them at the Work Café on Friday 21st June between 10.00am and 3.00pm. They will have an information stand and merchandise available and would love for people to drop in and chat with their friendly staff.
